Hourly SEO · Flexible support
Hourly SEO, for fixes that need doing.
SEO by the hour is help with a defined job, usually fixes to your website’s on-page SEO, done after an audit shows what is wrong. It is not ongoing SEO. For real ranking improvements you need a monthly plan, and I will tell you straight if that is what your site needs.
How it is priced
What does hourly SEO cost?
on a monthly plan
There is no minimum. Prices in New Zealand dollars exclude GST, and the other currencies are shown as charged. The hours are worked out after an audit, so you know the budget before any work starts. Invoiced upfront, with payment due within 5 days unless we agree otherwise ahead of time.
Who it suits
When hourly SEO makes sense.
Hourly support is for fixing what is wrong on your site, not for building rankings over time.
You want your site fixed
You have had an audit, or you know the on-page SEO is a mess, and you want it sorted without signing up for a monthly plan.
You have a clear problem
A page that dropped, a site move, tags that need fixing or pages Google is not indexing.
You want a second opinion
A quote from another agency, a report you do not understand or a plan you are not sure about.
You are testing the water
You want to see how I work on a defined job before deciding whether a monthly plan is worth it.
What I can help with
Jobs you can hire me for.
These are the same skills used on monthly plans, applied to a defined fix. Most hourly work is on-page SEO, done after an audit.
Page optimisation
Titles, headings, copy and FAQs on a page, tuned for the search that matters to you.
Technical fixes
Broken links, redirects, indexing problems, speed issues and missing schema.
Internal linking
Connecting your service pages to each other and to the pages that earn enquiries.
Search Console analysis
What is gaining, what is losing and what is not being indexed, with a prioritised list.
SEO advice
A straight conversation about your plan, a quote you have been given or what to do after a traffic drop.
How it works
Audit, estimate, approve, do.
Nothing starts until you know what the job covers and what it will cost.
- 01
Audit first
For a small website, the free SEO audit covers up to 5 pages. A bigger site needs a full audit, from NZ$1200. Either way it shows what is wrong and how big the job is.
- 02
Scope and estimate
From the audit I tell you what needs doing, whether hourly suits it, and how many hours I think it will take.
- 03
You approve and I invoice
You agree the scope and the budget. I invoice upfront, with payment due within 5 days unless we agree otherwise ahead of time.
- 04
I do the work
I work in priority order and tell you what was done. If it turns out bigger than scoped, you decide whether to add hours.
How long it takes depends on the hours needed. A job that needs 2 to 5 hours can usually be fitted into a week. A bigger job may take 2 to 3 weeks.
Examples
What fits in a small block of time.
These are the kinds of job that suit a short block. Whether one fits depends on what your audit finds, so treat them as a guide, not a quote.
Tune one service page
Rewrite the title, headings and key copy on your most important service page, and add answers to the questions customers actually ask.
Fix what the audit found
Work through the on-page issues from your audit in priority order, such as missing or duplicate titles and descriptions, heading problems and thin pages.
An internal linking pass
On a small site, link your service and location pages to each other and to the pages that earn enquiries.
A technical fix
Sort redirects after a page move, repair broken links, add missing schema or find out why a page is blocked from Google.
A small job on a tidy site is quicker than the same job on a messy one, and a big site takes longer than a small one. The audit tells us which it is before we start.
Hourly or monthly?
When you need a monthly plan.
- You want rankings to improve. Hourly fixes get your on-page SEO right, but real ranking improvements need ongoing work, so a monthly plan is required.
- You are in a competitive market, where rankings come from steady content, local signals and links built over months.
- You keep coming back with a new job every month. At that point a plan is simpler and usually better value.
- You want regular reporting and someone watching your search performance, not just a fix.
Hourly support fixes a defined problem. A monthly plan keeps your SEO moving. See how monthly SEO plans work, or check the pricing page. Not sure which you need? A free SEO audit is where we start.
What is hourly SEO?
Hourly SEO means paying for SEO help by the hour, for a defined job, instead of a monthly fee for ongoing management. It is usually fixes to your website's on-page SEO, done after an audit has shown what is wrong.
How is hourly SEO different from a monthly SEO plan?
Hourly support fixes specific problems, such as titles, headings, internal links and technical issues. A monthly plan is ongoing work: technical fixes, local SEO, AEO, rank tracking and monthly reporting, month after month. For real ranking improvements you need a monthly plan.
How much does hourly SEO cost?
The rate is NZ$150 an hour (AU$130, US$90, £70 or CA$120), the same as extra hours on a monthly plan. New Zealand prices exclude GST. There is no minimum, and you get an estimate of the hours before any work starts.
Do you need to audit my site first?
Yes. Hourly work usually follows an audit, so we both know what is wrong and how long the fixes will take. The free SEO audit covers up to 5 pages, which suits a small website. A bigger site needs a full technical audit, from NZ$1,200 (AU$1,100, US$750, £600 or CA$1,000). The estimate and budget come from that.
How long will the work take?
It depends on the hours needed. A job that needs 2 to 5 hours can usually be fitted into a week. A bigger job may take 2 to 3 weeks.
How and when do I pay?
I invoice upfront. Payment is due within 5 days unless we agree otherwise ahead of time.
Will hourly SEO get my site to the top of Google?
Hourly fixes get your on-page SEO right, and that helps. But real ranking improvements need ongoing work, so a monthly plan is required, and I never guarantee a position. In busier markets steady monthly work does more than a one-off fix.
What jobs can you do by the hour?
Page optimisation, technical fixes, internal linking, Search Console analysis and SEO advice, mostly on-page work after an audit. If your job does not fit, send it over and I will tell you whether I can help.
Got a website that needs fixing properly?
Start with an audit. I will tell you what it needs and what it would cost, no bullshit, no pressure. Prefer to talk first? Get in touch, or see monthly SEO plans.
