Find your city.

Original research

What I found testing 564 US contractor websites.

The US Trades Website Benchmark 2026 tested sites in 12 metros in October 2026. Headline figures use the 498 independent businesses.

Independents only, 126 per region. Score, speed and reviews are medians (score and speed out of 100). Tap-to-call is the share with a tap-to-call button on the first phone screen. It is a guide, not a verdict: the sample came from Google Maps searches, not a census of US contractors.

Common questions

US business questions.

Still wondering something? Get in touch and ask.

Do you work with US businesses?

Yes. EightySix Digital is based in Christchurch, New Zealand, and works with US businesses online, so you never need to meet in person. I’m Stu Clark, and I do the work myself, so you deal with the same person from start to finish.

What does it cost in US dollars?

Web design starts at US$500 for a one-page site, with each extra page from US$180. SEO starts at US$360 a month with no lock-in, AEO for AI search included, and extra hours at US$90. GEO is an add-on from US$360 a month. Google Ads management is US$360 a month plus a US$180 setup. An SEO audit starts at US$750, and an AI visibility audit (a GEO and AEO audit) starts at US$375 for a Snapshot, with Standard at US$950. US prices are charged as shown. See the pricing page for the details.

Do I need to be in one of these cities?

No. These are the cities with their own pages. I work with businesses right across the US, online, so get in touch wherever you are.

Where does the US research come from?

From the US Trades Website Benchmark 2026, which tested 564 US trade business websites in 12 metros: New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Chicago, Minneapolis, Columbus, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Seattle. The businesses were found through Google Maps searches and drawn at random, and everything was collected in October 2026. It is a benchmark of a stated sample, not a census.

Which service should I start with?

Start with the problem costing you the most today. No website that works is a web design job, not showing up in Google is SEO, and needing enquiries this week is Google Ads. An AI visibility audit shows whether tools like ChatGPT name your business. Digital marketing joins them up, and I’ll tell you honestly if you only need one.
